Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How does drop-off and pick-up work with Pee Wee Camp?
A: Please walk your camper through the white picket fence at Rec Park and turn right to meet one of the Pee Wee Counselors and sign them in at that tree at 9:30. Pick up is in the same location at noon. All adults authorized to pick up your child should be listed on the Health History Form. Any changes to that should be in writing.

Q: Can I drop off my Pee Wee at 9am with his/her older siblings?
A: Pee Wee Camp staff are busy preparing for their day at 9am and cannot supervise children until 9:30.

Q: Do Pee Wee campers go swimming?
A: Pee Wee campers have free swim time in the shallow water of the Camp Beach guarded by a Camp Lifeguard and assisted by their Counselors. There is no swim test and none of the Pee Wee campers are permitted past the shallow water rope. Their swim time is during their last scheduled activity so that it is during the warmest part of the morning. Since swimming is the last activity before going home, counselors do not change the children out of wet bathing suits. If you plan on leaving the park at pick-up time and do not want to have a wet child in the car, please feel free to bring a change of clothes.

Q: Do Pee Wee campers go on Field Trips
A: No, in their short half-day they do not leave Recreation Park

Q: What is the staff to camper ratio?
A: There is one staff member for up to 6 campers

Q: Are Beekman Day Camp staff trained?
A: Our staff are required to attend multiple mandatory training sessions which cover a wide variety of topics. Most of the staff are are CPR/AED and/or First Aid certified.

Q: How old are your counselors?
A: Camp counselors are 16 years old or older. Beekman Day Camp is fortunate to have many veteran staff members who are in college majoring in Education. We also have several staff members who are teachers.

Q: What happens during bad weather?
A: There is dangerous weather, and there is just rain. Campers should dress for rain and we will have lots of fun in it! We are fortunate to have a few options when the weather gets dangerous. Campers go to the nearest shelter: the Community Center, Pavilion or Gazebo. We have a variety of games and activities set aside for just such occasions.

Q: Can my child bring in personal belongings/toys from home?
A: Beekman Day Camp is not responsible for lost, damaged or stolen items. We encourage you to have your child keep personal belongings, especially electronics equipment at home; they can be a big disruption to our camp day. Items brought from home may need to be taken by the directors and placed in the camp office until the end of the day. Please help us out by limiting what your child brings to camp.

* Adjustments and discounts will be applied during checkout if applicable. *
